Marshall aims to rebound from a lopsided loss to Florida and secure its second consecutive home win on Friday when it faces the Jacksonville Dolphins.
The contest marks the second straight game that Marshall faces an opponent from Florida, while Jacksonville (6-3) will face its second consecutive Sun Belt opponent after defeating Georgia Southern on Thursday 56-51.
Marshall is 3-5, and coming off a 80-62 loss Saturday at Florida.
The Thundering Herd now in its third season in the Sun Belt Conference and led by first-year head coach Juli Fulks. Jacksonville is in the Atlantic Sun Conference and led by second-year head coach Special Jennings.
Jacksonville is competing in game two of a six game road stretch.
Both teams are powered by their conference’s leading scorers. Marshall’s senior guard Aislynn Hayes tops the Sun Belt Conference with 17 points per game, Jacksonville’s senior guard Edyn Battle leads the Atlantic Sun with 19 points per game.
This will be the second overall meeting between the two programs with Marshall winning in Jacksonville last season 102-77.
The matchup pits Marshall’s high-scoring offense which averages over 71 pointer per game, against Jacksonville’s strong defense that allows just 63 points per game.
After Friday, Marshall has only two non-conference games remaining traveling to Cincinnati and concluding the slate at home against Davis & Elkins.
