HUNTINGTON, W. Va. (WMUL-FM) — The Thundering Herd has officially filled out all of its coordinator positions, as Wednesday Marshall announced that Jackson White as the Special team’s coordinator for 2025

White is in his 5th year of coaching and returns to Huntington after serving under new Marshall head coach Tony Gibson as Special Teams Quality Control analyst for North Carolina State.

During his time in Raleigh, White coached kicker Christopher Dunn, who won the Lou Groza award, which is given to the best collegiate kicker. He also coached long snapper Joe Shimko, who snapped every punt and kick for 61 games, and managed to not have a single bad snap.

This will not be White’s first time in Huntington, as White was a reserve quarterback from 2016-2019, and also served as the holder for the special teams unit for the Herd.

White looks to build the Herd’s special teams unit, which struggled in the kicking game last year, only making 73.9% of field goals last year and ranking 72nd in the country in field goals converted.

With the coordinators filled, Marshall will begin to prepare the team for its big time SEC showdown against Georgia on Aug. 30, 2025.
