HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WMUL-FM) — Marshall women’s basketball looks to snap a two-game losing streak Thursday when it hosts Old Dominion at the Cam Henderson Center.

The Thundering Herd (7-17, 2-10 Sun Belt) aims to rebound after a narrow 73-68 loss to Central Michigan in the MAC-SBC Challenge last Saturday. Despite leading by nine points late in the fourth quarter, Marshall was unable to close out the game, marking its seventh single-digit loss of the season.

Senior guard Aislynn Hayes leads the Herd with 16.7 points per game, the highest in the Sun Belt Conference. Junior guard C.C. Mays has also emerged as a key contributor, averaging 11.7 points per game, ranking in the league’s top 15. Marshall’s defense has been a bright spot, ranking fourth in the Sun Belt with 233 steals (9.71 per game).

Old Dominion (14-11, 6-6 Sun Belt) enters the matchup looking to end its own losing streak. The Monarchs have dropped four straight games, including three by margins of four points or less. In their most recent outing, Old Dominion fell 56-52 to Toledo at home on Feb. 8.

In that match, the Monarchs struggled offensively, shooting just 28.8% from the field, including one of six in the final two minutes. A late three-pointer by Brenda Fontana cut the deficit to two with 41 seconds left, but missed opportunities and clutch free throws from Toledo sealed the game. En’Dya Buford, who leads the team with 12.6 points per game, led ODU with 14 points, while Fontana and Simaru Fields added 11 each.

Thursday’s game marks the 25th all-time meeting between the programs, with Old Dominion holding a 14-10 series advantage. The last meeting saw Old Dominion secure an 80-75 victory in Norfolk.

Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. at the Cam Henderson Center, with live coverage on WMUL-FM 88.1 and online at www.marshall.edu/WMUL. Pregame coverage begins at 5:30 p.m.
