Sports

The FM 88 Sports Staff provides the most complete coverage of Marshall University Athletics. All home contests are broadcast over WMUL-FM and the other affiliates of the Cutting Edge Sports Radio Network.

Fans may find and listen to live broadcasts of these home football, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s soccer, volleyball, baseball and softball games locally at FM 88.1 and online through our station’s website’s LISTEN LIVE link.

In addition, a multitude of original sports programs are produced in-house each week. These programs are heard Monday through Friday.

The FM 88 Sports Report is five full minutes of sports news. The sportscast occurs each weekday during the “5 p.m. Edition of Newscenter 88,” which airs every weekday from 5-5:30 p.m. Also, the staff produces packages throughout the week that air during WMUL-FM’s award-winning daily news program.

Wednesday night is Sports Night at WMUL-FM. The night kicks off with “Buzzer Beater” at 5:30 p.m., a rapid-fire national sports topics debate program which is similar to ESPN’s “Around the Horn”. Up next is the award-winning “Sportsview” at 6 p.m., which features guests from Marshall Olympic Sports teams discussing their individual sport, their seasons, and themselves. Closing out Sports Night at 7 p.m. is another award-winning program, “SpeedZone,” which discusses and recaps the week that was in auto racing with Ben Cower as its host.

On Fridays during both fall and spring semesters, “Herd Roundup” airs at 4:30 p.m. and recaps the week that was in Marshall Athletics. “Herd Roundup” features packages that previously aired as part of the “5 p.m. Edition of Newscenter 88”, alongside packages produced exclusively for the program.
