HUNTINGTON, W. Va. (WMUL-FM) — Marshall baseball (2-6) is back at its own diamond tomorrow as it hosts Fairleigh Dickinson University (0-7) for a 3 p.m. opening pitch.

It has been 285 days since Jack Cook Field hosted a Marshall University regular season game, but after picking up a 2-2 series sweep against ACC foe Georgia Tech, the Thundering Herd is ready to defend its home turf once again.

This will be the first of a three-game weekend series between the Herd and the Knights, with Friday and Saturday beginning at 3 p.m., and the series finale on Sunday set to begin at 1 p.m.

Marshall’s sophomore infielder AJ Havrilla had a staggering seven-RBI effort in Marshall’s most recent matchup, a 12-8 victory against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Graduate student reliever Tim Baird had five strikeouts in three perfect innings to earn the win. Sophomore right-hander Griffin Miller notched five innings on the bump in Saturday’s win to give him his first victory of the year.

Fairleigh Dickinson has had rough start to the season, being swept in three-games series against UNC Asheville and Middle Tennessee State University, as well as a mid-week loss against St. Peter’s. Freshman infielder Johnathon Gomez leads the Knights with 12 hits and seven RBIs.

Unfortunately, the game will not be broadcast live on WMUL-FM, but FM88 Sports Ethan Peltier will be live-tweeting the matchup on the FM 88 Sports Team X (formerly known as Twitter) account.
