Andrew is from Alexandria, VA. He majored in History and minored in Physics and German. After Marshall, Andrew stayed at Marshall for his MA in Political Science. In his last semester, Andrew was the Burk Intern at the WV House Government Organization Committee for the 2007 session. After working briefly for the Arlington County Government, he has been a Market Analyst for Defense Logistics Agency-Strategic Materials since January 2008. Andrew has two children and remains an active and avid athlete across many sports.

Nora is from Cameron, WV. She majored in English literature & Humanities and minored in Latin. After Marshall, she interned at the National Education Association in DC and worked in early childhood education until pursuing her Masters of Fine Arts in Writing at Vermont College of Fine Arts. Now Nora writes books for a living. Nora Shalaway Carpenter is the contributing editor of the critically acclaimed YA short story anthology Rural Voices: 15 Authors Challenge Assumptions About Small-Town America, which was named an NPR Best Book of the Year, A YALSA Best Fiction YA selection, a TAYSHAS list selection, and a Bank Street Best Book of the Year, among numerous other honors. Her debut YA novel The Edge of Anything was named a Bank Street Best Book, a Kirkus Reviews Best Book, and A Mighty Girl Best Book of the Year. Her next anthology, Ab(solutely) Normal, just released from Candlewick and her next novel, Fault Lines, is forthcoming September 12. She holds an MFA in Writing from Vermont College of Fine Arts and currently serves as faculty for the Highlight’s Foundation’s Whole Novel Workshop.
